Drainfield and Leach Field Installation

Drainfield and Leach Field Installation in Ocala

The drainfield is where the real treatment happens, and it is the most expensive part of a septic system to replace. Smoothedgedesign builds new gravel trench and plastic chamber drainfields across Ocala and Marion County, whether you are installing a fresh system or replacing a field that has started to surface. We size every field from the soil percolation rate so treated effluent disperses underground instead of pooling near the surface.

Why Sizing Matters

A leach field that is too small for the soil will clog and fail early, and one built in a low spot near a high water table needs a different approach entirely. We read each site on its own, run the perc test, and match the trench length or chamber count to the number the county will permit. On tighter soils we may recommend a gravelless chamber system, which spreads flow over more surface area than a traditional gravel bed of the same footprint.

Our Process

We locate the field to keep the required setbacks from your well and property lines, at least 100 feet from a private drinking well. We excavate the trenches, set the distribution box so effluent splits evenly across each lateral, lay the perforated pipe or chambers over washed aggregate, cover with filter fabric, and backfill to grade. Then we pass the Marion County inspection before the system goes into service.
